Russia plans to conduct a demonstrative "training-combat" launch of the intercontinental ballistic missile "RS-24 Yars" tonight, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reveals.
According to intelligence, the purpose of the launch is to intimidate Ukraine and put pressure on the EU and NATO member states, which is considered an element of nuclear blackmail tactics.
"The launch of a missile equipped with training ammunition from a mobile ground complex was ordered to carry out a showdown with the 433rd regiment of the 42nd division of the 31st army of the strategic missile forces of the aggressor state," GUR states.
The launch site is reportedly near the settlement of Svobodny in the Sverdlovsk region of Russia. The ammunition is planned to be used for training.
The flight range of this three-stage solid-fuel missile is over 10,000 kilometers.
