After an audience with Pope Leo XIV, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed gratitude to the Vatican for its readiness to become a platform for direct negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, as well as for, as he emphasized, "a clear voice in defense of a just and lasting peace".
As reported by Ukrinform, Zelensky posted on Facebook: "We are ready for dialogue in any format for the sake of real results".
He also thanked Pope Leo XIV for his support for Ukraine.
Zelensky stressed that for millions of people in the world, the Pope is a symbol of hope for peace, so the authority and voice of the Holy See can play an important role in ending this war.
