The first exit polls of local elections in Croatia: In Zagreb, Tomašević leads convincingly

Croatian voters had their say in Sunday's local representative and executive elections. At 19:00 the polling stations are closed and the election results will be determined and announced.

The agencies report that according to exit polls by the agency Ipsos Puls, Tomislav Tomašević in Zagreb, Ivica Puljak in Split, Iva Rinčić in Rijeka and Ivan Radić in Osijek are leading in the four largest cities by the number of votes.

In Zagreb, the current mayor Tomislav Tomašević (Možemo and SDP) won 49.59 percent of the vote, followed by independent candidate Marija Selak Raspudić with 14.91 percent.

In Split, mayor Ivica Puljak (Center) with 36.25 percent and HDZ's Tomislav Šuta with 29.38 percent are likely to go to the second round.

In Rijeka, Iva Rinčić (Action of Youth and Partner Parties) is leading with 39.85 percent and current mayor Marko Filipović (independent) with 19.89 percent.

The current mayor of Osijek, Ivan Radić (HDZ), won 72.12 percent, followed by SDP candidate Vjeran Marijašević with 17.33 percent of votes.

According to exit polls, the joint list of We can! and SDP in the elections for the Zagreb City Assembly won 47.29 percent of the vote, which gives it 26 seats out of a possible 47 in the Assembly.

Next in terms of votes is the coalition of HDZ, DP, HSU and HSS with 14.07 percent of votes and seven seats in the Assembly.

Third is the Independent List of Marija Selak Raspudić with 12.94 percent of the votes, which would mean seven city representatives.

The fourth is the independent list of Davor Bernardić - Servus Zagreb with 7.9 percent of votes and four representatives.

Tomislav Jonjić's Independent List - Only Croatia is also entering the Assembly with 6.57 percent of votes and three mandates.
