The Court of Appeals of Kosovo has confirmed the decision of the Basic Court, which ordered three Montenegrin citizens who went to the Visoki Dečani monastery with the plates "Kosovo is Serbia", to be detained for 30 days, Koha reported, and the KoSSev portal reports.
Two soldiers of the Army of Montenegro, Rajko Krivokapić and Dragutin Lalatović, and another Montenegrin citizen Marinko Jovanović, have been in detention since November 24 because they had plates with the inscription "Kosovo is Serbia" on their vehicle in the center of Dečani.
According to the Court of Appeals of Kosovo, the appeal arguments of the defense are unfounded, while the contested decisions are legal and justified, reports Kosovo online.
The Court of Appeals stated that these are citizens of Montenegro who do not have a residence in Kosovo, and that there is a risk of flight, which may jeopardize the course of the proceedings.
Three people from Nikšić were arrested on November 24, after the end of the holiday celebration at the Visoki Dečani monastery, for the inscription "Kosovo is Serbia" on their car, or rather on the license plate frame.
They were ordered to be detained for 48 hours on the same day, and then to be held in custody for 30 days, with the charge of inciting hatred and intolerance. The lawyer for one of them, Jovana Filipović, said that this measure was too harsh, and that there was no basis for charging them with this criminal offense.
Filipović also told KoSSev that the disputed inscription on the plate was actually covered with another tape, and that it was not known who removed it.
