Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has warned Belarus against reckless provocations and advised it not to approach Ukraine's borders during planned military exercises on Belarusian territory.
The Ministry emphasized that Belarus has been an accomplice in Russia’s crime of aggression against Ukraine since 2022 and that the cooperation between Moscow and Minsk poses a threat to all of Europe.
– We call on our partners to remain vigilant, to increase sanctions and political pressure on Russia and Belarus, to jointly counter Russian propaganda, and to strengthen Ukraine’s defensive capabilities, which protect Europe from the Russian threat – the statement said.
The Ministry also reiterated that the buildup of Russian troops along Ukraine’s borders took place under the guise of joint Russian-Belarusian military exercises Zapad-2021 during 2021 and 2022.
“We warn Minsk against reckless provocations, advising caution, and that they do not approach the borders or provoke Ukraine’s defense forces,” the statement read.
The statement was issued amid the upcoming exercises of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in Belarus in the coming weeks.
Belarus recently announced that it does not rule out a partial relocation of the Zapad-2025 exercises, stating that they could be moved deeper into the country, blaming, as it claims, the aggressive behavior of Poland and Lithuania for that.
