The Russian military has intercepted a Ukrainian drone, and parts of the aircraft have caused a fire near a nuclear power plant in Russia's border region of Kursk, the operator said, assuring that the level of radioactive radiation has not changed.
The drone, which was shot down after midnight, "exploded and damaged an auxiliary transformer," the Kursk nuclear power plant said on Telegram.
There were no casualties in the fire, which has been extinguished.
One of the four reactors is operating at 50 percent capacity due to the attack.
"The radiation level at the industrial site of the Kursk nuclear power plant and in the surrounding area has not changed. It is within normal limits," the operator said in a statement.
Ukrainian Air Defense Shoots Down 48 Drones
Ukrainian air defenses shot down 48 Russian drones overnight, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced.
The statement said that Russian drones and missiles hit 10 locations in Ukraine overnight.
Several explosions were heard in the Sumy region as a result of the Russian drone attacks, Ukrinform reported.
