Vučić in Sofia: "The Situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina is Slipping Out of Control"

AUTHOR: M.J. GDNUS

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, stated today in Sofia that the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, due to the poor response of the international community, "is slowly but surely slipping out of control."

"I am not sure in which direction this is heading, but it is clear that the Bosniaks see this as their opportunity for the second half and the removal of Serbs as a 'disruptive factor.' They fundamentally want the abolition of the Republic of Srpska (RS) with all its competencies and prerogatives of power, although they will not say so," Vučić told journalists in Sofia after the Akaba Process meeting on the Balkans, where the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina was one of the topics.

He added that he was even more concerned because, during discussions with EU and NATO representatives and officials from certain countries, he realized that no one wants a compromise "but rather a final confrontation with Milorad Dodik and, although they won’t admit it, they want the RS to have no competencies."

He also stated that Germany and Austria's decisions to ban Dodik would be followed by other countries, considering that this only complicates the situation.

He noted that these two countries were the first to ban the entry of Dodik, the President of the RS Parliament, Nenad Stevandić, and the RS Prime Minister, Radovan Višković, due to their policies "which are heading in a secessionist direction."

On the information that proceedings have been initiated against Dodik for the "villa case" in Dedinje, Belgrade, Vučić said that he did not want to comment on the work of the Organized Crime Prosecutor's Office at this moment but added that "it is interesting that the request to the police, UKP, and SBPOK to interrogate Milorad Dodik based on international legal assistance came precisely at this moment."

He added that "Serbia will not participate in the persecution, arrest of Milorad Dodik, or anything similar."

Vučić stated that while in Sofia for the Akaba Process meeting on the Balkans, he had several bilateral meetings, including with the President of Bulgaria, Rumen Radev, and King Abdullah II of Jordan, who confirmed their participation in the Expo 2027 exhibition.
