The head of the UN's International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, warned that a direct attack on Iran's Bushehr nuclear power plant would lead to a "very high release of radioactivity" that would endanger the population in a radius of hundreds of kilometers, CNN reports.

Addressing the UN Security Council, Grossi pointed out that Bushehr is "the most sensitive nuclear facility in Iran", as it contains thousands of kilograms of nuclear material and an active reactor. He stressed that a direct hit would cause a wide spread of radioactivity in the surrounding area.
