Iran said on Monday evening that it had fired missiles at the US Al-Udeid air base in Qatar in response to US aircraft striking three Iranian nuclear facilities on Sunday. Qatar said it had successfully intercepted the missile strikes.
Iran said the number of missiles fired was equal to the number of bombs dropped by US aircraft on Iranian nuclear sites. Qatari authorities had previously suspended air traffic "as a precaution."

According to the New York Times, Iranian officials said Tehran had given advance warning of the attack to reduce possible casualties. The US Department of Defense said there were no injuries in the attack.
The White House said Donald Trump "still wants" a diplomatic solution with Iran.

Donald Trump's first reaction to Iran's response came a bit late. Only fake news would claim otherwise to further discredit – and even they admit that the targets were ‘pretty well destroyed’!”, before listing those he accuses of belittling his action.
“These media entities never stop, and that’s why their ratings are at an all-time low – ZERO CREDIBILITY!”
Earlier that morning, White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt told reporters that Iran posed an “imminent threat” and that President Donald Trump was “the first president who had the courage to actually act.”
