At least five people were killed in the winter storm that affected the part of the United States, and because of the closed schools, floors and in many parts of the missing current were canceled.
Seven American federal states declared a state of emergency - Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Kansas, Missouri, Kentucky and Arkansas.
More than 2,300 flights were canceled, and almost 9,000 delays were reported due to extreme weather conditions caused by polar iceberin that usually circulates around the North Pole, BBC reports.
About 190,000 people were without electricity in the states that were found on the storm hit.
It is forecast that the snow and sleet will continue during the day in mostly the northeastern USA, the National Meteorological Service cites.
