Ukrainian and American delegations have begun talks in Saudi Arabia, with proposals for protecting energy facilities and critical infrastructure on the agenda, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said tonight.
"We are implementing the directive of the President of Ukraine to move closer to a just peace and strengthen security," Umerov, the head of the Ukrainian delegation, wrote on Facebook.
The meeting of the US and Ukrainian delegations precedes talks between the US and Russian delegations scheduled for tomorrow.

US special envoy for Ukraine Steve Witkoff expressed optimism on Monday ahead of talks in Saudi Arabia to end the war in Ukraine, saying he believes Putin wants to end the three-year conflict.
