A US judge has blocked the decision of US President Donald Trump's administration to end Harvard University's ability to enroll foreign students, Reuters reports.
District Judge Allison Buroughs, appointed by former Democratic President Barack Obama, issued a temporary injunction freezing the policy.
In a lawsuit filed in federal court in Boston, filed earlier on Friday, Harvard called the ban a "clear violation" of the US Constitution and other federal laws that has an "immediate and devastating effect" on more than 7,000 visa-holding students.
"With one stroke of the pen, the government attempted to wipe out a quarter of Harvard's student body, international students who make significant contributions to the university and its mission," Harvard claims in the lawsuit. "Without international students, Harvard is not Harvard," added the oldest and wealthiest US university, founded 389 years ago.
