The Roman Catholic Church and all Christians who count time according to the Gregorian calendar are celebrating Christmas today, the most joyful holiday that marks the birth of Jesus Christ.

President of Montenegro Jakov Milatović congratulated all citizens who celebrate this holiday according to the Gregorian calendar on Christmas.

"Christmas Eve and Christmas inspire us to renew our faith in goodness and represent a time in which we strengthen our mutual ties, reminding us that solidarity and togetherness are the basis of all progress," Milatović said in his congratulatory message.

He emphasized that the Catholic Church in Montenegro, through the Archdiocese of Bar and the Diocese of Kotor, plays a significant role in Montenegrin society.

"By promoting dialogue and being committed to the spiritual and value-based development of the community, it makes an invaluable contribution to building harmony among all citizens in our country," Milatović's congratulatory message states.

Prime Minister Milojko Spajić sent his congratulations to Roko Đonlešaj, Archbishop of Bar, Mladen Vukšić, Bishop of Kotor, the clergy and sisters of the Catholic Church in Montenegro, as well as to citizens who celebrate Christmas Eve and Christmas according to the Gregorian calendar.

"The Christmas holidays inspire and encourage a stronger commitment to humane ideals, the fundamental values of the teachings that you selflessly and tirelessly spread and testify to by personal example. Your absolute commitment to the apostolic mission, in times full of challenges, makes our society more just, more united and more harmonious," the Prime Minister emphasized.

The congratulatory message states that love for every person, which is reflected through readiness for dialogue, tolerance and breadth for understanding others and those who are different, represents a message and commandment that has stood the test of time and on which every true relationship, mutual respect and collective progress rests.

“On these foundations, in the New Year and in the coming years, may Montenegro record progress in all fields,” concluded Spajić.

President of the Parliament of Montenegro Andrija Mandić congratulated Archbishop of Bar Monsignor Roko Đonlešaj, Bishop of Kotor Monsignor (fra) Mladen Vukšić and the faithful of the Roman Catholic Church on the upcoming Christmas according to the Gregorian calendar.

“On behalf of the Parliament of Montenegro and on my own behalf, I extend my most sincere congratulations on the occasion of the upcoming Christmas according to the Gregorian calendar, a holiday that reminds us of the sublime values of philanthropy, mutual respect and understanding.

May the joy and light of this day inspire you to build the foundations of a safer and more prosperous future in our Montenegro, with dialogue and togetherness. The festive message of peace and forgiveness, which is more relevant today than ever, reminds us that only through joint efforts can we overcome challenges and contribute to the common good.

With sincere wishes for health, peace and well-being, may Christmas bring warmth and joy to your homes and hearts," the congratulation reads.
