Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić accused students in the blockade of extraditing former Yugoslav President Slobodan Milošević to The Hague on Vidovdan.
All this might not be so astonishing, considering that we are used to Vučić not being bothered by the truth, if it were not for the event that took place on June 28, 2001, when most of today's students participating in the blockades were not even born, writes Danas.
"We had terrible days, such as the deliberate delivery of President Milošević to the Hague Tribunal on Vidovdan. This is one of the greatest shames that the blockaders have committed against the state of Serbia," Vučić said.
When TV Prva interview host Marija Stamenić interrupted him to say that he was referring to DOS, Vučić repeated “yes, blockaders”, equating the self-organized group Students in the Blockade with the former ruling coalition of Zoran Đinđić and Vojislav Koštunica from 2001.
This triggered an avalanche of posts on the Iks network that the students had “prenatally” – that is, before they were born – “extradited” Milošević.
The students in the blockade, who have been demanding early elections since May 5, believing that this is the only way for Serbian institutions to provide justice for the victims of the collapse of the canopy at the Novi Sad Railway Station on November 1, 2024, have called for a large protest rally on Saturday, June 28, 2025, in Belgrade.
