After several hours of action, Ottawa police arrested a man who had barricaded himself in the eastern block of the Canadian Parliament.
Ottawa police announced on social media that the crisis in the Canadian Parliament had been resolved and that a man had been taken into custody without incident.
"One man is in custody," the Canadian police said around 11 p.m. local time. The post also mentioned that a criminal investigation is underway.
It is still unclear why the man barricaded himself in the Canadian Parliament building.
Ottawa police had previously deployed specialized units, including a bomb disposal team that used two bomb disposal robots.
On Saturday afternoon, police issued a warning to employees in the so-called Eastern Block, which houses parliamentary offices, instructing them to lock themselves in their offices.
After securing the building, the police evacuated employees, streets surrounding the Parliament complex were cleared, and traffic was halted.
