The foreign ministers of the G7 countries have condemned recent Chinese military exercises around Taiwan as provocative and destabilizing, calling for dialogue to achieve a "peaceful resolution" to the issue.
“These increasingly frequent and destabilizing activities are heightening tensions between China and Taiwan, posing risks to global security and prosperity,” the diplomats stated in a joint statement on Sunday, as reported by N1.
The statement added: “G7 members continue to encourage a peaceful resolution through constructive dialogue between China and Taiwan.”
Last week, the Chinese military conducted a two-day series of exercises around Taiwan, including live-fire drills with long-range ammunition in the East China Sea, marking an escalation of military activities around the island.
