Russia launched a massive airstrike on Ukraine, utilizing drones, ballistic missiles, and cruise missiles. Kyiv was hit, resulting in significant destruction and fires across the capital, with casualties reported.
In the Russian missile strike on Kyiv, one person was killed, and three others were injured, reported Timur Tkachenko, head of the Military Administration of the Ukrainian capital.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia launched 23 missiles of various types into Ukraine: 9 Kh-101/Kh-55SM cruise missiles from Tu-95MS aircraft from the Saratov region, 8 Kalibr cruise missiles from the Black Sea, and 6 Iskander-M ballistic missiles from the Bryansk region. Additionally, nine Shahed-type attack drones and other types of simulator drones were used.
The Air Force confirmed the interception of 53 airborne targets—13 missiles and 40 drones. Specifically, 6 Kh-101/Kh-55SM cruise missiles, 6 Kalibr cruise missiles, and 1 Iskander-M ballistic missile were downed.
Earlier today, Ukraine's State Emergency Service reported that Russia launched a ballistic weapon attack on Kyiv early this morning, which led to multiple fires, and three people were injured.
The statement mentioned that firefighters were working to mitigate the effects of the attack in the Darnytskyi, Obolonskyi, and Solomianskyi districts of Kyiv, as reported by Ukrainian Pravda.
At one site, a building was destroyed, and parked cars nearby caught fire, although the fire has since been extinguished. In the Obolonskyi district, a fire broke out in a furniture factory, and the flames spread to another warehouse building.
In addition, today marks a Day of Mourning in Ukraine due to the missile attack on Kryvyi Rih, as announced by Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Kuleba.
Kuleba stated that flags would be lowered in all cities, especially from Kyiv to Odesa, from Kramatorsk to Uzhhorod, and there would be a moment of silence, according to the Ukrainian agency Interfax.
In Kharkiv, a three-day mourning period has been declared for the victims of the Russian missile strike on the city and on Kryvyi Rih.
To recall, in the Russian attack on a residential district of Kryvyi Rih, a ballistic missile killed 19 people, including 9 children, and injured another 68. Volodymyr Zelensky published the names of the victims on his Telegram channel.
Today, Ukraine is also under an air raid alert due to attacks coming from the Black Sea region.
The Russian military has launched Kalibr cruise missiles from the Black Sea, Kh-101 missiles from strategic bombers (TU-95MS), as well as ballistic missiles.
"There are injured people due to the attacks on Kyiv," said Mayor Vitali Klitschko, without specifying the exact number.
Fires have been reported in the Darnytskyi, Solomianskyi, and Obolonskyi districts of the city, he added.
