The Commander of NATO’s Joint Forces in Europe, U.S. General Christopher Cavoli, stated today that KFOR currently has 4,300 troops stationed in Kosovo, but reserve units have been deployed to address the rising tensions, according to Indeks online.
“As you know, KFOR has 4,300 troops in Kosovo, less than 600 of whom are American. The Italians have taken on a large part of the mission's burden. We have also deployed reserve forces to deal with the rising tensions, which have been present for more than a year,” said Cavoli before the U.S. Senate.
He added that the number of permanent forces is being increased to free up reserve units and expressed confidence that an agreement on this will be reached soon.
He mentioned that, in addition to Italy and Turkey, the key nations in the KFOR mission are the United Kingdom and Hungary.
